Lowes Foods is getting ready to launch the Locally Grown Club, a program that was successfully introduced in 2011. The Locally Grown Club will run for 13 weeks and offers customers the chance to purchase a variety of fresh, local produce in advance. This program coincides with the locally grown efforts that Lowes Foods makes each year to support our local growers and will appeal to those who typically visit farmer’s markets or roadside produce stands. Lowes Foods is proud to support these local growers and knows the importance of investing in these companies. Every purchase is an investment in where we live and proof that Locally Grown is not only good for you, it’s good for the local communities.

Lowes Foods Locally Grown Club will feature six to ten varieties of assorted produce in each box that may include zucchini, yellow squash, green peppers, blueberries, sweet potatoes, cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes, peaches and many other seasonal items. Customers will receive twelve to thirteen pounds of produce each week. Their produce box will include farmer’s history, location and great recipes to help them enjoy the contents of each box.

Customers can participate for the whole season, 6 weeks, 3 weeks or buy a single box. They simply sign up through www.LowesFoodsCatering.com , pay in advance for their subscription and pick up their box each Saturday at the store.

Some of the local farmers that will be involved with the Locally Grown Club include the Doug Patterson family farm in China Grove, Deal Orchards in Taylorsville, Hunter Farms in King, and Wayne Mitchum in Lincolnton. Lowes Foods will also continue their partnership with Pilot Mountain Pride, a local food movement in Northwest North Carolina that provides a centralized aggregation center for 40-50 small farmers who have converted their tobacco farms into row crops.

The Locally Grown Club will run between June 2nd and September 8th. The cost per box will vary depending on the amount of weeks that the customer purchases:

  • 1 week program - $29.00
  • 3 week program - $27.00
  • 6 week program - $29.00
