This Wednesday, September 8, 2010 Lowes Foods will open the doors on the newest grocery store in the Triad area. The new Lowes Foods store, located at 5820-F North Church Street in Greensboro, will contain all of the traditional fresh departments as well as Lowes Foods to Go. Many grand opening events are planned for the entire first week, and the store will have special prices for all visiting customers.
There will be several events surrounding the new Greensboro location during its opening week. When the store opens on September 8th, an all day donation drive will begin with collections for the Second Harvest Food Bank. The store will also be visited by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture Big Cart from 10:00 am until noon. From 4:00 until 6:00 pm, the store will be visited by NASCAR Hall of Famer Junior Johnson and 93.1 The Wolf country station. Customers may sample some of Junior’s sweet tea and breakfast biscuits and get his autograph as well.
On Thursday, there will be a hot dog cookout for lunch from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm. The cookout will be provided by Sara Lee and Miller/ Coors and all proceeds will benefit the United Way. Friday night from 4:00 until 8 pm, the store’s grand opening gala will be held. This event will showcase all of the stores favorite foods, and samples will be available for all in attendance. The gala will also be accompanied by a live broadcast from 107.5 WKZL from 4:00 until 6:00 pm.
Saturday September 11th will be Kid’s Fun Day. Between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm the store will be again visited by 107.5 WKZL. Other events at this time will include a visit by the Pillsbury doughboy, Guilford the Greensboro Grasshoppers mascot, and a balloon artist. The store will also be visited by Art Quest, where children will have the opportunity to make their favorite food shapes from molding clay.
