Meet Your Local Farmers at Lowes Foods -- Winston-Salem, NC - Jul 16, 2010

Lowes Foods has teamed up with local food movement, Pilot Mountain Pride to serve locally grown produce to stores in Surry, Stokes and Forsyth counties. This Saturday, customers in Surry County will have the chance to meet the farmers that grow their produce through a farmer’s market held at Lowes Foods stores in the area. Customers will be able to purchase local produce at this event as well as at other nearby Lowes Foods stores.

Farmer’s markets will be held at Lowes Foods in Pilot Mountain and Mount Airy this Saturday July 17, 2010 from Noon until 4:00 pm. Local farmers will be selling their own crops outside of the store, but additional Pilot Mountain Pride produce can be found in these and other Lowes Foods stores.

"The timing was fantastic. We’ve been trying to embrace locally grown and put back into the communities in which we operate for some time." says Dick McKellogg, Director of Produce for Lowes Foods.

Pilot Mountain Pride is a local food movement that provides locally grown produce to restaurants and retailers in Forsyth, Surry and Stokes counties.
