Charlene's Garden, Polk County, NC

Jeff and Charlene Searcy, together with their three sons, grow many unique items such as baby bell peppers and tomatillos, as well as staples like sweet potatoes.  Jeff spent his childhood learning from his father how to farm traditionally, using horses for plow.  Charlene grew up on a nearby dairy farm and also learned to farm growing up.  They have evolved their farming methods to include some of the traditional ways, combined with new techniques.

Patterson Farm, China Grove, NC

SPatterson Farm is a third generation family farm located in China Grove, North Carolina.  The farm was started in 1919 by James A. Patterson as a row crop and cotton farm.  Today, the farm is operated by grandsons Randall and Doug Patterson, and their wives, Nora and Michelle.  Tomatoes and strawberries are their primary crops, but they also enjoy growing bell peppers, squash and pumpkins.  In addition to farming, they host many school groups on their farm to teach children about agriculture and fresh produce!
