Quick Meals and a Cool Kitchen
When the weather heats up outside, your family can eat well from a cool kitchen inside.

Meal 1
Shop for: Melon (produce dept) + sliced natural turkey breast (deli), whole grain bread (bakery) + mustard (grocery aisle) + shredded cole slaw (produce) + light mayonnaise (grocery aisle)

At home: Make turkey sandwiches with mustard, coleslaw dressed with light mayonnaise, and cut-up fresh melon.

Meal 2
Shop for: Fresh strawberries (produce) + baby carrots (produce) + stalk of celery (produce) + cooked, rotisserie chicken (deli) + black eyed pea salad (deli salad) + angel food cake (bakery)

At home: Slice the chicken and serve with black eyed pea salad, carrots and celery sticks and angel food caked topped with fresh strawberries.

Meal 3
Shop for: Natural roast beef (deli) + leafy salad greens such as Romaine or spinach (produce), tomatoes (produce), green beans (produce or frozen foods) + olives (deli bar or grocery aisle) + light dressing (grocery aisle) + part-skim mozzarella cheese + peaches or nectarines (produce)

At home: Make a dinner salad with salad greens, tomato wedges, lightly steamed green beans, olives, bite-size roast beef, bite-size cheese and light dressing. Wash and slice peaches or nectarines for dessert.

Meal 4
Shop for: Fresh frozen salmon (frozen seafood) + red-skinned potatoes (produce) + sugar snap peas (produce or frozen foods) + rainbow sherbet

At home: Thaw and grill salmon and serve with potatoes and snap peas cooked in the microwave oven. Serve a moderate scoop of sherbet for dessert.

Meal 5
Shop for: Fresh Portobello mushroom caps (produce) + whole wheat buns (bakery) + sliced Provolone cheese (deli or dairy) + olive oil (grocery aisle) + vegetarian baked beans (grocery aisle) + frozen mixed berries (frozen foods) + 100% grape juice (grocery aisle)

At home: Grill the Portobello mushroom caps after brushing lightly with olive oil. Top with sliced cheese, allow it to melt and serve on a bun. The veggie baked beans may be served beside the mushroom burger. Make a smoothie by blending the frozen mixed berries and grape juice.
